Facilitated inner work through art, presence, and story – offered as guided creative experiences for self-connection.

Guided Creative Journeys are designed to support calm, clarity, and a deeper sense of self-connection.

These journeys are at the heart of my work at ArtCafe Studios in Northern Virginia. They’re designed to help you step out of your head and into your heart through creativity, reflection, and lived experience.

It’s a gentle, guided process that meets you where you are – and yes, it can feel a little magical.

What makes these journeys different

Most women I work with are capable, thoughtful, and carrying a lot. You’ve been the strong one, the organized one, the reliable one – and somewhere along the way, you got a little disconnected from yourself.

Guided Creative Journeys offer a different way of reconnecting – not by pushing harder or analyzing more, but by slowing down and letting insight emerge through experience.

These journeys create space to:

  • slow down and support your nervous system (without forcing stillness)
  • quiet the mental noise and soften perfectionism
  • access insight through imagery, creativity, and experience
  • feel seen – without having to perform

Conversation is part of the process, but it’s not the whole thing. When words are hard to find, creativity becomes a language of its own.

Choose a doorway

You don’t need to pick the “right” one. If something sparks curiosity, that’s enough.

That’s where we start.

Neuro Art Journeys

Mindful, intuitive drawing experiences for clarity, calm, and self-connection.

This is my bread and butter – and often the easiest place to begin.
Using mindful drawing practices such as Zentangle®, the Art of Manifesting (AM Method™), and neurographic-inspired art, Neuro Art Journeys help you settle, release mental clutter, and reconnect with creativity in a way that feels grounded and surprisingly calming.

No artistic experience needed. Seriously. If you can draw a line, you’re in.

Neuro Art Journeys can be experienced as:

  • one-on-one sessions (gentle + personal)
  • small groups and classes (community + calm)
  • retreats and events (a deeper reset)
  • employee wellness sessions for organizations (creative support for calm and focus)

The focus is always on process, presence, and what unfolds – not the finished artwork. Many women are surprised by how calming, grounding, and revealing these practices can be when you leave perfection at the door. As a recovering perfectionist myself, I know exactly what you’re thinking.

Inside-Out Journeys

A private creative experience that turns inner reality into visual truth.

Inside-Out Journeys are deeply personal, one-on-one explorations centered around story, witnessing, and transformation.
Through conversation and reflection, we explore what life feels like on the inside – the part most people never see.

Each Inside-Out Journey includes two portraits:
  • a composite/fantasy image that visually represents the inner experience
  • a second, more “outer world” portrait that reflects how you’re seen day-to-day
Side by side, these images are powerful. They tell a story without needing explanation.

Most Inside-Out Journeys are private and held with care and discretion. Over time, I’m also building toward a collective Inside-Out Project, where a group of women may choose to share their stories publicly – not for exposure, but for connection and impact.

The intention is simple:

When one woman tells the truth, others feel less alone.

Transformational Portrait Experiences

Photography as a meaningful experience, not just another photo session.

Transformational Portrait Experiences are guided, unrushed sessions shaped around intention, not stiff posing. We focus on presence, celebration, and what feels true for you.

Whether that looks quiet and reflective, playful and imaginative, or somewhere in between, you don’t have to know the exact outcome. We explore that together.

Options include:

  • Soul Portraits (for women reconnecting with themselves)
  • Legacy Portraits (for family, milestones, and what you want to remember)
  • Fantasy Portraits (for children and the grown-up dreamers)
  • Seasonal Magical Experiences (Santa, Snowman, and Vintage Baseball)

These are thoughtfully planned, but always leave room for spontaneity – because real moments can’t be forced.

Creative Reading Circles

A gentle, communal doorway – meaningful books, real conversation, optional creativity.

If you’re looking for insight and connection without committing to something big or intense, Creative Reading Circles are a beautiful place to begin.

We explore selected books together through conversation, reflection, and optional creative practices. Think: nourishing, honest, human – not “self-help homework.”

Children & Imagination

Creative experiences that protect wonder and support self-expression.

I also love working with children through imaginative portrait experiences and creative practices that support confidence, emotional expression, and that wonderful kid ability to live fully in the moment – something many of us lose along the way.

This doorway is designed for families who value creativity, meaning, and experiences their children (and parents) will truly remember.

How sessions are held

Some journeys may include elements like reflective writing, sound, gentle movement, breath, grounding, or quiet pauses. These are not separate “add-ons” – they’re simply tools I include when they support your experience.
Everything is guided. Everything is gentle. Nothing is forced.

Not sure where to start?

That’s completely okay.
If you’re curious, drawn in, or simply feel a quiet nudge, let’s talk about where to start. Just a real conversation to find the doorway that fits.

Sometimes the journey begins with a plan.
Sometimes it begins with a feeling.
Both are welcome.

These sessions are supportive, creative experiences and not medical or therapeutic treatments. Outcomes vary for each individual.
